Our Curriculum (cont.)
The four key points that guide the application of Ontario’s Early Learning Framework are:
1. Play - Our educators reflect on new ways to provide more opportunities for children to have uninterrupted periods of play, using the environment to enhance learning, providing time through the daily schedule and reflecting on the curriculum to see if it is truly promoting child-directed play.
2. Observation & documentation - Our educators actively observe the children’s play and document examples of learning and skill development in play through photographs, artwork, learning stories and developing skills. They apply the Continuum of Development to that documentation.
3. Recording & Reflection - By recording and reflecting on documented play, our educators are able to plan for more meaningful learning opportunities.
4. Planning - Our educators apply the continuum of development to their curriculum planning to allow for a more purposeful, well-rounded program. For more information about the Ontario Early Learning Framework, visit www.ontario.ca/children and click on Best Start (Resources).
