OUR BIG NEWS! (click here)
In September 2012, Oxbow Public School will be providing Full Day Kindergarten for children of Junior and Senior Kindergarten age. Whitehills will be moving its schoolage program (children Grade 1-6) to the Oxbow Public School location at 13624 Ilderton Road, Ilderton, Ontario, N0M 2A0. We will also be providing an Extended Day Program at the Oxbow Public School for kindergarten children before and after school. We are very excited to be moving into the school and there will be lots of positive opportunities for the children and opportunities for our staff and the staff of the school to collaborate. The PELP program will continue to operate at the Ilderton Arena.
Located upstairs at the Ilderton Arena, our before & after school and Pre-Early Learning Programs offer a comfortable, stimulating environment for children ages 2 to 12 years. The before and after school program operates Monday to Friday from 7:30 to 9:00 and 3:30 to 6:00 with bussing provided to and from Oxbow Public School. Our Pre-Kindergarten Early Learning Program (PELP) for children 2-3.8 years operates from 9:30 until noon each week day except for Wednesday. Both programs benefit from the quiet, rural community setting and provide an ideal environment for learning and development. They both provide an Emergent Curriculum supported by Ontario’s Early Learning Framework.
In the before and after school program, our educators provide opportunities for fun and relaxing activities before and after a busy school day. Activities include outdoor games, sports, arts and crafts, sensory, indoor games and special events. Exciting activities are held on PA days, during the summer months, March Break and Christmas at our Wilfrid Jury location. Emphasis is placed on field trips/ special visitors, special days, outdoor and recreational activities. A PA Day Registration is sent out to all families outlining the planned activities for each day and how to register. A calendar of activities is provided prior to the March Break and the summer program.
Our PELP program helps to get our young pre-schoolers ready for Full Day Kindergarten. Our educators provide a variety of interest areas and fun learning activities that focus on social, emotional, cognitive, physical, communication, language and literacy skills to support your child’s developmental growth.
